Located on the upper podium of Elements Shopping Mall in Kowloon, Grand Central Bar & Grill marks a new era, pushing the American Sports Bar & Grill concept to a new and hip ‘urban’ dining experience.
Connected by a grand staircase, the main entrance for this stylish 2-level restaurant is on the ground floor of Civic Square, featuring the main bar and a cozy dining and drinking area. This level has a rustic and casual feel with exposed brickwork, leather booth seating, vintage lighting and hardwood flooring.
The upper level is full of light with huge volume and has the feel of a New York City loft. The design has purposely exposed the iron beams, steel columns and base-build concrete walls, demonstrating the beautiful industrial nature of the structure of the premises. Although primarily for dining with a smaller yet decorative bar feature, the upper level is also connected to the lower level by a dramatic light well, peppered with vintage tungsten lights to add even more sparkle to the space.
The ‘Grand Central’ name is an indirect reference to Grand Central Station, which is the iconic train station found in the center of Manhattan in New York City. Although there are no literal references to the famous New York City landmark, there are plenty of industrial-age design elements within the decoration, such as original drive-wheel patterns and sprockets hanging over the staircase that are originally from the 1940’s and were used in trains and the Liberty Ships built in the U.S. during World War II.
